STAY ON YOUR OWN TRACK

“…She is running 100 miles per hour in the wrong direction”- Casting Crowns
It was our intramural sports day back in primary school. At this stage of my life, I was known for two things: motor-mouthed, and speed (you know Usain Bolt? Yeah… That was me!)

I represented blue house in a 100 meter dash. On you mark! Get seeeeet!.. Paaa!… the gun was shot. I took off and briskly outran all my competitors. Yippee…. I crossed the finish line first. Pride drenched me like dew as my face beamed with hope; I envisaged a gold plated medal hung around my tiny neck. Then it hit me like thunderbolt. I was greatly bewildered. Let me capture it in these three words: I Was. Disqualified.

But why? I did not maintain my track (I went off my lane). My heart sank within me as I saw folks whom I outran being honoured. In dismay, I refused to participate in the 200 meters race and relay that day. I felt it was harsh and unfair (I still do). That was my first heartbreak and it might be hilarious, childish or emotional to you.

However, that was a microcosm of our journey on earth. Life is a race; race is a game and to win any game you must stick to the rules. This is one of the rules of the game of life: STAY ON YOUR TRACK.

You may be the smartest, you can even train twice as hard but if you are off track then you will struggle. Your name cannot be made great on the wrong track. Never. Off track =No glory.

We were taught hard work, we learnt determination, speed and positivity. All these virtues can be curses if we are off the track. Imagine running 100 miles per hour in the wrong direction, imagine a man of determination heading for destruction (he is more difficult to rescue) I have grown enough to know that working so hard in the wrong track is an endless battle . How would you feel if you discovered that you built your mansion on another man’s piece of land ? Your track is your area of influence…. If you want to be influential then you have to step on track and stay right there.
God wants us to bear effortless fruits. Your provisions and miracles are planted right on our track. Your lane is where your customized goodness and mercy are waited ; they expect you to lead the way and they cannot wait to follow(you) .
Ronaldo (CR7) located football, Steve Jobs found technology, Donald Trump embraced business, Oprah Winfrey accepted media . Lion’s track is the jungle, whale’s lane is in the deep. Imagine a lion that wants to rule in the sea. Eagles are powerful but only in the air. You have a sector and area where you are powerful too… Locate it as soon as possible !

God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness but they are all deposited in our path in life. Your track is the only location where you can partner with God and do the impossible. When you are on track you are invincible; you do extraordinary things without breaking a sweat . You turn into a deity. Do you know Michael Jackson? Yeah, you do!

I was told to work hard and carve a niche for myself. Then I realized, we have only one builder and he is God. We were not designed to carve a niche for ourselves; we were made to locate the niche with our names on it. It was carved even before the foundation of the world.
It is the glory of God to carve a niche for you and it is your glory to locate it– search it out. Stop struggling to build what you were not made to build(what you cannot build); enter into God’s rest.

Hebrews 4:8-10 KJV

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

  4. Fantastic one sir. It’s not running on your lane that’s even the problem, it’s identifying it. There’s this confidence, zeal that builds up, swells up in a man when he understands where he is going. It can only be found in our manufacturer, God. He knows what he made each person for. Thanks sir.
