My Identity

“Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. Man’s life is independent. He is born not for the development of the society alone, but for the development of his self.” –B. R. Ambedkar

I am the lion…why should I turn away?

My adversaries bow to me, it doesn’t matter if they are few or many

I am unmoved in the face of storm and trepidation

For I know all things work together for my good according to my divine connection

Whatever is confronting me is like a tiny firm compared to the God inside me

My identity is Christ so I can’t be caught in that web called ‘Wanna be’

Oh yeah! I am His calf, I serve with strength and loyalty

In his presence, I trade my mortality for immortality

My gifts, talents and resources are useless if they ain’t for His glory

HE is my ROCK in which I DWELL so I am immune to these nagging worries

Jehovah is the captain of my ship and the shepherd of my life and that explains why I can’t be in a hurry

Sometimes my untrained mind deprives me from basking in his untold provisions

Other times, the lust of the flesh drives me towards a decimating direction

I hate to admit it, but isn’t it obvious that I am still caged in this prison called humanity?

Isn’t it crazy how I often reduce his salvation to mere morality?

How unbelievable is the gulf between true encounter and my religious activities?

How foolish it is to define true riches strictly by these mundane amenities

Like the eagle, I soar, I soar beyond my flaws in worldly agonies

Same storm that force others to their doom will usher me into destiny

Don’t be too fast to walk out of my life because I am yet to start my life song and trust me, it’s a melodious symphony

I don’t care if it comes out right or wrong, but I won’t give up until I hit the harmony

I soar and glide even in the midst of storms as I listen to his voice because the stranger’s voice is an annoying cacophony

Just like the wind, my influence is undeniable

You may claim to know me but I am purely indescribable

With his partnership, everything is achievable

I am eternally glued to the only love that is ever dependable

I don’t sync with your standard for I dance to the superior beat

I care less if you throw me in the furnace for I am sanguine: I wouldn’t be alone in the heat

It is not about what you think or feel about me, but it’s all about what is written of me (in the volume of his book)

I don’t give a damn about who you think or feel I am

Cos I am already lost in who the I AM says that I am!.

Our unknown pride is in our pursuit to prove humility at the expense of our identity
