When I think of Christmas story. I think of the whole plan of redemption. I don’t just think about the baby in the manger – KENNETH. E. HAGIN

I am sanguine, we have  had enough Christmas stories, especially, this period of the year . In fact, I can perfectly predict  most pastor’s sermon today. Howbeit, I think the essence of Christmas can not be overemphasized. Never!

We all know how Adam sold us to the devil for just a bit of fruit (probably apple) . He deliberately enthroned the devil;immediately,  Satan got robed with authority and crowned with power . Even though Adam and Eve were the main culprits, we shared in their consequences and irresponsibility; the whole creations fell with them.

(Psalm 62:11 KJV)

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

However, in his love and mercy he gave Adam some portions but he lost it to the devil due to his incurable foolishness. Satan became powerful and man’s powerbank became empty.

In His eternal  love for us, he resolved to redeem us back to himself; he decided to give us another chance. Relinquishing his throne and descending to planet earth seemed the only price for our redemption. Yeah.. He chose it pay the prize nevertheless.

HE is the WORD. I mean the very WORD that created every strand  of  DNA in every being, every atom of everything. He created every planets, oceans, stars even hell and heaven.Everything!

(John 1:1&3)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The king of Kings became the son of man; the creator of all things chose to be caged in the womb of a young lady. Indeed, Love and humility are indeed inseparable.

The WORD inspired some selected people and prophets to speak forth through different generation. They ranted and prophesied passionately even when the information oozing out of their lips was a puzzle their brains could not unravel . Different generations, different prophets, diverse tongues, different locations yet the same message…. “The Virgin shall conceive and birth a son” They yelled and wept. They were mocked  because they sounded stupid yet they kept on doing what they were born to do… Talking nonsense with passion and boldness.

These WORD (Prophesies) began to accumulate over thousands of years  until they formed thick clouds, and at the appointed time the hanging words and prophecies descended like dew, not on the roof, not in the farm but in the womb of a maiden who had her own plans and goals. HE ignored the palace of Herod; HE snubbed  the mansion of Pilate but chose the ‘bae’ of a carpenter. Indeed the word became flesh and dwelled among us.

The almighty God, Jehovah, King of all kings chose to be trapped in Mary’s womb, not just for a night but for complete 9 months (about 275 days). El-Shaddia had to grow and adapt even as the environmental conditions demanded. Mary thought she was carry a special baby who was about to ruin her love life, little did she know, it was the greater one who lived in her inside, that was carrying her and the whole universe in his palm. Little did she  know that her God in her womb is the real LOVE who had come to redeem the entire world.

Jesus suffered on the cross but I do not think that was the height of his suffering, however, it was the end of his pain and probably the most publicized. Jesus suffered humanity… The immortal, invincible turned  mortal, subjected to life and its restrictions for more than 30 years. People didn’t call him GOD but son of Joseph; he would had spent some time using the hammer on the nails. He was hungry; he even had to obey authority when he is the authority. In fact, he is life!

He had to grow and study scriptures, he had to go to the temple and learn. He had to discover his purpose in life like every one of us and he took the responsibility to fulfill it. He discovered his calling as he read Isaiah 61.

Luke 4:18-21 KJV

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

[19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

[20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

[21] And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

(You can’t discover your purpose outside His word and presence).

He was born to die, even when he knew no sin,  he was born to become our sins so we could become his righteousness. He had the most horrific calling the world ever knew yet he fulfilled them all.

Jesus suffered rejection even from his village folks, he was stabbed with the sword of betrayal by his click of friends. In fact, Judas stabbed him back, front and everywhere.

The omniscient  had to learn even when he was the peak of knowledge . The omnipotent had to fast; he had to retreat just like us. He was baptized by a musty man with stinky dreadlocks . The father of all spirits probably had crush issues a few times like the Rockdweller himself. GOD became just like us!

Jesus received thunderous slaps just for us to have peace with God(Romans 5:1). He was beaten and battered until his face was beyond recognition; he literally did not look  like human being anymore,  yet,  he did not disappear or utter a word. His purpose was stronger than the pain; the love for us made everything seemed bearable . he knew in those stripes lies our healings and in those grieve lies our hopes. What a saviour!

JESUS  did not spend  his last few hours on a life-supporting machine, he did that on a life draining, bloodstained, old rugged cross. He was not surrounded by assiduous doctors fighting for his life(far from that); he was amidst heartless soldiers who were in competition on who could inflict the most excruciating pain on my innocent Jesus.

He was surrounded by clamorous mob who  mocked and splat on him, they even wished the soldiers could be more brutal . Even the folks who ate with his loaves of bread and sardines screamed “Crucify him! Crucify him!! Crucify him!!!  What a saviour!

Friends, those long nails were not strong enough to hold Jesus, he held the nails, the bloody cross was too weak to keep my Jesus, his love for us kept him there. Alas, he breathe his last breath; his heartbeat ceased. However, before he gave up the ghost, he  screamed with his last strength

 “It is finished!!”

Yeah… Toiling  to earn God’s love is over! Powerlessness is over! Living under the law is over, condemnation is over. Most importantly our sins are forgiven!! (past present and future)!

The wages of sin is death and he paid it. In fact, he over paid!

He took our sins; I mean he became our sins, he turned our lies, sexual immortality, insecurity, murder  and he died on our behalf. He went to hell on our behalf, he engaged in fiery battle with the devil in hell and triumph without a scratch. Yeah…on our behalf, he stripped off Satan of  the power and authority.

Then he rose for our justification! We are now  qualified to reign on this earth on his behalf too, we have the legal right to use his name to our advantage.

He successfully restored us back to God, took away law and he gave us grace, he took our sins and gave us his righteousness. He took away the penalty and gave us goals. He took away our nightmares and gave us his dreams.

Now, Satan is got no power over us because AS CHRIST is, so we are in this world. We are now destined to REIGN because Jesus had changed our destiny and destination.

Note: All power belong to God! And  He has given us power to tread upon scorpions and serpent without fear. Satan is got no power over us (Saints). However,  he is the tormenting schoolmaster of the unsaved.

‘JESUS CHRIST is the reason for the season’ is not a cliché but the truth!

Merry Christmas to you!
